Exactly how was it cleared? My Sony Vaio laptop recognises the wireless connection but fails to connect at the acquiring network address. Jul 24, 2012 My work wireless network is stuck on identifying. I called Tech support and they made me take the security off of my wi fi and it connected but I don't want to do that. I tried connecting to it just to see if I could and it worked. I was also instructed by a customer service rep to disable the programs running in the background and that turned out to not be an issue either. Since I had assignments due for class I had to connect through an access point on my tablet then the tablet went out. I can't ping anything successfully.
Ashley: When you installed the router the first time, did you set up wireless security on the router? Other laptops in the house work fine. What's listed in the Network Adapters heading? But when trying to connect to mine it will not acquire a network address. Fortunately, it appears that I have gotten both systems cleaned up. I have had this issue prior. You could try I would scan for more viruses just to be safe. One of my computers found the wireless network but could not connect to it. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated! How exactly would this be done. I suggest running a cable from your notebook to the router and taking a look around to see if all settings are correct. On most networks, that'll work just fine. We have all kinds of things that are working with it. I'll try to get the password tomorrow though. My internet works fine with no interuptions and local network tasks back ups, streaming, etc.
Sep 6, 2011 Just got a machine from another company and I'm not allowed to re-image it but I need to get it on our network. Something similar happen to me in the past and a new card did the trick. Then try removing all security from the linksys to see if that is affecting it. If that does not work then try this. When I have the ip address set to obtain dynamically it stays stuck at 'acquiring ip address'.
The thing is - it connects without any problem, but the icon just keeps staying in the taskbar, the yellow dot moving, and still saying that it's acquiring a network address even though I can fully access my network and the Internet by this time already. Would anyone happen to know if there are any service s that I might've disabled which may contribute to that annoying animated icon to keep staying in the taskbar even after connecting?. I updated all of the drivers. So I'm thinking it probably isn't a hardware issue? See if that fixes it.
